September is National Bourbon Heritage month so it’s a perfect time to enjoy a Perfect Manhattan cocktail. We just got a bottle of Knob Creek small batch bourbon and couldn’t wait to open it to create, enjoy and photograph this recipe. Calling for just a few common ingredients, mixing this cocktail is so simple yet the resulting flavors are surprisingly complex – something to really sip and savor. A gentle stirring or swirling is all that’s needed, since shaking everything together with ice would dilute it too much and change the flavors. Even though a Manhattan is traditionally served in an elegant wide-rimmed cocktail glass, for those like me who are clumsy with long-stemmed glassware, this drink is just as at home in a sturdy, spill-resistant lowball glass.

Sexy! I prefer discarding the vermouth after coating the ice + use Orange bitters.
Old fashioned next ?
